Does massage therapy hurt?
Massage therapists utilize manual techniques directly on soft tissues with a variety of different pressures. Generally deep pressure is guided by patient comfort using a pain scale of 1-5 or 1-10. The treatment should never be painful or uncomfortable, and it is important to let your therapist know if their techniques hurt or cause lingering pain post-treatment.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncturists are experts at deftly inserting hair-thin needles in the superficial tissues along set meridians and points on the body. This is almost always pain free, with an occasional sensation of a pin-prick during insertion. An acupuncture treatment is generally relaxing.

Is RMT and/or acupuncture useful for a recent injury?
If you have a new ligament sprain or muscle strain and there is swelling or bruising, it is best to wait 48-72 hours before coming in to see one of our therapists.
